Shower Review Travel Plaza Georgia
Carnesville
This "Shower Review Travel Plaza Georgia Carnesville" is
a
review
of the shower facility at the Carnesville Travel Plaza in Carnesville,
GA, USA, based upon our
own expectations of what a shower facility that caters to
professional truck drivers of commercial motor vehicles should be like,
our own preferences (especially in comparison to a home bathroom), and
our observations.

- Showers assigned by clerk
in
travel store.
- Key assigned by clerk in
travel store.
- Able to get one more
towel from truck stop laundry room.
- We paid for this shower
with USD $10.
Shower #18
(oops!) #17
(Note: The clerk originally assigned the first shower, but upon our
finding the door open and used towels and a used washcloth in the room,
we determined that the shower had been used without being cleaned. Mike
returned to the clerk who took the key from #18 and gave him the key to
#17.)
Pros: Shower Review Travel Plaza Georgia Carnesville
- As this was a "double
shower," two towels, two washcloths, two thicker paper
bathmats and two small packaged bars of soap were
waiting for us
in the shower room.
- Counter space at and adjacent
to sink was spacious
- There was a light fixture on
the wall directly over the
sink/mirror by which
male drivers can get a close shave without nicking
- The mirror was well
positioned on
wall behind sink for
both short and tall drivers
- Water pressure from sink was
good
- Electrical outlets worked well
- There were two showerheads in
the shower
- Both showerheads were
positioned in the stall so as to allow the user not to get wet when
turning on the water
- This shower had a shower door
to prevent splattering of water outside the stall
- Towels and washcloths were
sufficiently thick
- Toilet flushed well
- The fan worked very well
- The mirror did not fog at all,
even when the fan was off, meaning that there was good ventilation in
the room
- Showerheads could be positioned
where needed
- The movable seat was more than
big enough for an oversized shower bag
- Although the toilet paper
holder allowed for only one household-sized roll of tissue, at least
Mike was not crowded by a dispenser when he sat down.
Cons: Shower Review Travel Plaza Georgia Carnesville
- One towel hook was on the wall
opposite the shower stall; two others were over the movable seat across
the room from the shower.
- There was no door restrictor
and no locking knob on the door.
- The showerheads, although
looking like the ones that typically deliver a "sand blaster" type of
spray, ranged from a decent delivery to one that was just ok --
definitely not like a home showerhead.
- Water pressure in the shower
reduced significantly when a toilet was flushed
- Water temperature in the shower
rose significantly when a toilet was flushed
- There were the beginnings of
mold/mildew in the grout in the shower
- The mirror was discolored in
numerous places
- There were three corners on the
counter where there was a greenish discoloration like it hadn't been
cleaned really well
- The soap holder near the
showerhead on the other side of the sink wall was placed such
that Vicki described it as an "elbow breaker"; it should have been
installed on the same wall as the showerhead instead of being installed
in the line of the water flow where a user could easily hit it with an
elbow
- The toilet seat has numerous
dark spots on it. When we arrived, there was a small piece of toilet
paper on it which appeared to have been wet some time in the past and
left to dry. Also, there were some small dark floating objects on top
of the water in the toilet which we won't even bother to speculate what
were. To us, the toilet paper on the seat and the objects floating on
top of the water were sufficient reason to believe the toilet had not
been thoroughly cleaned since being used by a previous shower customer.
Note: Shower Review Travel Plaza Georgia Carnesville
We're sure that this shower was in better
condition in days past. The age of the unit can best be summarized by
the type of toilet paper roll holder, which allowed one household-sized
roll (not the industrial-sized rolls that are being used in some other
shower facilities).
In case there is any doubt, we took pictures of some of
the problem areas in this room, but are loathe to publish them for
public viewing.
