The American Trucking Associations announced back in June that this year's National Truck Driver Appreciation Week would be held September 11-17.

While we're glad that the ATA recognizes truckers one week out of the year, we appreciate professional truck drivers and the work that they do all year long!

Thank you, drivers! We wish you safe travels and lots of money saving opportunities on the road.

Prevent This!

Both International Business Times and CNN reported that a Japanese woman died after having been run over by a truck driver who was playing a game on his Smartphone.

The CNN article states that the vehicle was "a small truck" and that the driver "had been distracted by Pokemon Go".

This was the "the first case of a death in Japan resulting from someone playing the game".

Regardless of the size of the vehicle being driven, its driver needs to be fully focused on operating it.

No matter how popular a game may be, as a professional truck driver, you're not paid to play a game.

When you are driving, concentrate on driving, not doing anything on your Smartphone.

Prevent this!

Earn More, Save More

Fox 46 Charlotte reported on August 26 that a trucker who had been on the phone with his wife "plunged off an embankment on Interstate 85."

The trucker survived, but had one leg amputated and sustained eye injuries.

While we empathize greatly with the trucker and his family, this situation is a perfect example of how a trucker's trucking career can end suddenly and without warning.

What would you do if your trucking career suddenly came to a stop?

It is always wise to have a second income to supplement -- and perhaps be grown to replace -- one's primary income.
