Television on your cell phone

by J Rowe
(Salt Lake)

In your applications store on an Iphone or in the Android Marketplace on your Droid phone, download TV.com to watch Beverly Hillbillies, NCIS, Star Trek, and many other shows on your phone for free.

Another application "Television" has shows from around the world including Europe. It costs an initial fee only of $2.99. You can also download applications for CNN, Discovery, cartoon channels and Fox news as well as local newspapers.

Response from Vicki:

Thanks, J.

Mike and I don't have an Iphone or Droid phone, so we're unfamiliar with this technology. But it may be handy for professional truck drivers who want to watch television for free on their cell phones.

Drivers, if you use this tip, let us know how it works for you.

If you have satellite internet or mobile broadband, you may also be able to watch some shows on your laptop computer for free. The only catch with this is being able to access the shows you want to watch when they are linked online.

The major television networks include:
* ABC - watch full episodes;
* CBS - watch full episodes;
* NBC - watch full episodes;
* Fox - watch full episodes.

Lists of television channels are online here.

Sometimes, you can find full-length TV shows on IMDb (The Internet Movie Database) through their TV section. I have watched old episodes of shows -- waiting patiently through the commercials or ads that appear periodically -- through that website.

A search for "watch full length movies online for free" brings up a variety of websites. Be aware that some websites may bombard you with commercials or ads or want something else from you.

If you decide to watch television on your cell phone, make sure that you have the technical ability to do so and that your plan permits it without socking you with outrageous fees for data usage. If you have doubts, contact your cell phone provider.

If you want to watch TV on your computer, make sure that you stay within your data limitation to keep from getting into overage charges.

Finally, if you value your privacy, be aware that anything you download to your phone or computer can be traced or tracked. Do your due diligence to make sure that your important personal information is not hacked or compromised.

Thanks again.

We wish you safe travels and lots of money saving opportunities on the road.

Best regards,
Vicki Simons
